Who are Nektan?
Nektan is one of the fastest growing online businesses that specialise in developing and distributing mobile and online casino games. They are known for developing their own brand of unique real money slots and casino games. There are in fact very few companies within this industry that actually specialise in such development. Unlike many other casino operators, Nektan has heavily invested in the continual development and implementation of creating unique gaming experiences. Nektan have a large number of sites and are constantly growing due to the large player demand in the UK. We have hand picked the best and also the new Nektan casino sites that we believe offer the best welcome bonus and experience.
Nektan themselves specialise in the design and development of mobile games that offer a fully interactive freemium and real money gaming service. But the slot games that they have developed are not fully restricted to the world of mobile gaming. As a company they have created a technology programme known as ‘Evolve’. This specialist piece of software allows the games they have created to run smoothly and effortlessly on both mobile and desktop devices.
Rather interestingly it is not just the online arena in which they have a focus. In 2015 they went into partnership with Spin Games LLC to look at providing land-based casinos with in-venue mobile technology. So far to date, at least 18 different land based casinos have signed up to the deal to be able to offer those who visit their casinos something different. This joint venture called ‘ReSpin’ is sure to see Nektan develop a whole new and unique strategy to mobile gaming. Not only that, but it gives them access to the vast U.S market of which so many companies wish to be a part of.
The History of Nektan
In May 2011 Nektan Limited was formed and sprung into life. It had one intention, to create innovative and leading casino and mobile slots games. Gary Shaw, a veteran within the online gambling industry, founded the company. His previous exploits include St Minver who was sold to GTECH before he decided to finally setup Nektan in 2011. Since then Nektan has gone on to develop a world-class team of industry veterans, which makes it no surprise to see the company performing so well in such a short space of time.
The pace at which the company was growing was proven when they chose to become a PLC and raise capital via the stock markets. They first went live in November 2014 and successfully raised £4.1M on the first day of trading. This meant that the value of the company at this time was in excess of £50M. This is seen as a huge achievement considering the short life span of the company up to that date. The majority of the funds raised were used to create ‘Evolve’ which would then enable to company to move into other gaming markets. The raising of the capital and the development of the ‘Evolve’ software means that the company is predicting to be worth more than a staggering £19 Billion of gross gaming revenue by the year 2018.
But it is the partnerships with leading online companies that is really starting to make Nektan stand out from the crowd. In December 2014 a deal was brokered with LeoVegas, which would see their unique mobile slots games integrated into one of the best known online casino brands. To have such a partnership in place recognises the significant development of the Nektan mobile slots gaming platform and the quality of such games.
But the big name relationships do not stop with LeoVegas. In February 2015 a partnership was announced with News UK to create ‘Sun Play’. This gaming product has been developed to work with The Sun Newspaper and will offer freemium and real money games. The development of ‘Sun Play’ has been designed with mobile slots players specifically in mind. The deal is seen as a significant one as the daily newspaper has a readership of over 7 million people. Access to such a huge audience and well-known brand name can only be good news for the highly ambitious company.
But the names don’t stop there as the famous amateur cooking show on Channel 4, Come Dine With Me, has also got in on the act. Nektan has won the contract to produce a freemium bingo game based on the TV show. The game itself will be a non-gambling game and give users the chance to purchase in-app special features.
Nektan Casinos & Their Games
In the beginning the company specialised in mobile slots. They created their own unique brand of games to appeal to an ever-growing market. At the time of writing they have developed 21 different slot games and 2 casino style games. Because the company is focusing on the future all the slot and casino games have been created in HTML5, which means they will work on any mobile or tablet device.
But the clever bit and drive of the company comes with the invention of ‘Evolve’. Because of the development of this unique piece of software, it means that deals have now been brokered with the major players of the online casino industry. There are a number of Nektan casino sites that don’t just offer the unique mobile games but also offer a vast array of other software providers. This means that customers can have access to microgaming slots, NetEnt slots, NextGen, Realistic and Aristocrat casino games. This now means that the online casino player has a vast array of games he or she can chose from.
Embracing the Future of Mobile Payments
It is very easy to focus on just the games element. But it takes many aspects to make the user experience enjoyable. The use of HTML5 also means that other elements away from the games can be tailored to suit mobile users. Its the overall interface that helps set it apart. Nektan have worked on the user experience to make things like depositing and withdrawing monies a simple process. Partly due to the user interface and partly to the partnerships they’ve created with payment method providers.
But to be truly mobile it is more than just games that are required. Nektan has developed a partnership with Boku. Boku allows customers to make deposits via their mobile phone number. This means instead of a customer fishing out their debit or credit card, they simple enter a mobile number. This works as it makes the offering totally mobile and also adds a layer of security. No more are debit or credit cards needed, and therefore eradicates the chance of online fraud. It is also helps promote responsible gambling as the maximum daily deposit limit is set to £30. It is no wonder that many potential customers are looking for boku casino sites. If you’re looking for more information about Boku then we recommend taking a look at this website.
The future for this little known company looks incredibly bright. It continually performs well on the London Stock Exchange, develops new and exciting partnerships with leading brand names and is always looking to work with new partners. The number of games available on Nektan casinos is currently at the 150+ mark, but this will surely increase as the big name players within the casino industry look to get on board with a company that appears to be going in the right direction. If you’re looking for a website that offers nektan and other casino sites then we recommend visiting www.5slotsites.com which has a wide range of sites from many of the top software providers.
The Future for Nektan Casinos and Their Players
The start of 2020 saw the story of Nektan take a twist. In January the company was removed from the London Stock Exchange and all trading on the stock market was ceased. The company had been running at a loss despite an annual turnover of £19.4 million and attracting thousands of casino players. While this in no way affected the players or the casino sites themselves, it has led to a change in ownership.
In the same month that Nektan was removed from the London Stock Exchange the company sold its B2C business to Grace Media Ltd for £200,000. While Grace Media may not be a household name, the company runs Active Wins which includes big name brands like Betfred and also runs a number of established Nektan casino sites. While this may come as worrying news for casino players, the company has confirmed it will have no impact on any of its casino sites and business will carry on as normal. The deal will mean that Nektan will continue to receive monthly royalties from Grace Media.
Gary Shaw, the Interim Chief Executive of Nektan spoke about the new deal and said “We look forward to working in partnership through the business-to-business relationship with the buyer as they take the business forward.”
While Warren Jacobs, the Active Wins Chief Executive said of of the deal “The opportunity to acquire the UK B2C business allows Active Win Group to expand further into the UK online casino market, furthering our growth in this market from being a white label operator ourselves, to working with the full complement of business partners established by Nektan in recent years.”
But will this have an impact on existing players and live casino sites? In the short term the answer is no. Nektan casinos will continue to run and operate as normal and the everyday casino player will not notice any difference. Hopefully the new partnership will lead to some new and exciting developments in the not too distant future.
